Makenzie Reck | University of North Alabama Senior
It’s currently 7:45pm on Easter Sunday and as I sit down to write this blog I feel an overwhelming feeling of gratitude. I’ve done a lot of reflection this weekend- personally, spiritually, etc. When I force myself to take this time to slow down for a second and just savor the moment, I feel the same intense feeling of graditude every single time. I just can’t comprehend the concept that someone so amazing died for ME. And that Heaven is waiting for all of us and all of the beautiful souls that we miss here on Earth are celebrating somewhere together today. You can feel it if you slow down long enough to.
I also feel so much thankfulness towards my community and the support that they have continued to show me throughout the years. The random Facebook messages of encouragement, the consistent bookings, and all of the incredible people I have met along the way make my heart swell more than any of you know. This session with Makenzie Reck was one that tugged at my heart strings. I’ve known Makenzie since she was in pre-school, and I have watched her develop into such a beautiful, successful woman. She has such a pure, sweet soul, and it was so special to me to document this milestone in her life. I am so excited to see what is coming next for her- I know it will be big.
“College itself has been such an eventful, learning time in my life that I have so many memories that I will cherish forever, but some of my favorite memories from college are meeting my life long friends through my sorority, Phi Mu, and dancing for my University on the UNA Roar Dance Team. I have loved running the team out for football games and dancing during half time at basketball games the past four years. Dance Team and Phi Mu have allowed me to feel so connected to my university in order to share all my love and pride I have for the University of North Alabama. Roar Lions!” - Makenzie
“My favorite part about shooting my senior portraits was wearing my cap and gown for the first time on my campus. It made everything feel so real and bittersweet. I’m so excited to graduate, but I will miss everything about being a college student at UNA. I hope to always look back at these pictures and feel the spark I felt while taking them.” - Makenzie
“My advice to an incoming freshman would be to soak up every moment and enjoy it! College is such a special and rewarding time in your life, so it’s so important to cherish every moment before it’s over in a blink. I would also suggest getting involved on campus because it will open doors to new opportunities and friendships.” - Makenzie
“My plans after graduation are to begin my teaching career as an Elementary Education Teacher. I look forward to having my own classroom and striving to make a positive impact on my students. Teaching has been my passion since I was a little girl; therefore, graduation means my dreams are officially coming true.” - Makenzie
“The most influential person in my life is not just one, but two-my parents. My parents have been the biggest support system throughout my life, and I am so thankful for their constant love and encouragement. They have influenced me to always trust in the Lord and follow my heart. They are the best and have my whole heart. I love you Mom & Dad!” - Makenzie
Lord,
I come to You today with prayers of thankfulness. Thank You for making the ultimate sacrifice for me, for my family, and for all of the beautiful souls that You have created. Please continue to Guide sweet Makenzie as she begins the next chapter in the book You so perfectly designed for her. Give her Your Peace when times are challenging, and Your Joy when things are good. I thank You for bringing her and her sweet family into my life so many years ago. You did big with this girl.
Amen.
